hydro-static testing
Hydro-Static tests are performed to determine if the sanitary drain piping system will hold water. The test is performed by inserting an inflatable test ball into the building drain at the perimeter beam, applying air into test ball to block the drain line and then filling the drain system with water from bathroom and kitchen fixtures to the finished floor level. The water level is then observed for 15 minutes to determine if drain system will hold test. A failed test with leak on drain system occurs if the system does not fill up to slab level or if there is a drop in the water level from test point. It is recommended to complete isolation testing to pinpoint leak areas when drain leak exists below your home.
ISOLATION TESTING
Isolation testing is the leak detection process of locating leaks on the under slab drain system. A combination of sewer camera pipe inspection equipment and inflatable test balls are inserted into drain system through existing cleanouts, exposed toilet drains, roof vents and tub and shower drain openings to pinpoint leak areas. Once leak areas are located a drawing of home is complete showing drain break locations and an estimate provided for repair. If cast iron drain system exists or numerous drain breaks it is recommended to complete a full plumbing reroute.
CAMERA PIPE INSPECTION
In-line drain and sewer camera equipment is used to perform inspection of underslab drain system and exterior yard sewer lines to observe condition and location of any deteriorated pipes, breaks, stoppages or obstructions.
